David Silverman
David Silverman
Born in South Africa, David immigrated to Israel in 1983. After studying photography at Camera Obscura in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, he started working as a photographer on archaeological excavations and as a darkroom assistant in professional studios before joining Reuters in March 1991. In 2000, he worked as a photographer and photo-archivist in London while at the same time being the primary photographer for the Michelin “In Your Pocket” guide book to Jerusalem. In September 2000 he returned to Jerusalem and commenced working with Getty Images in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip, covering the Israel-Palestinian conflict, general news and daily life in the region for Getty. In April 2010, he left Getty Images to start his own website – www.dpsimages.com – and expand his interest in travel and wine photography. Today David, together with photographer Yuval Nadel, fly remote control octocopters, which photograph from the air archaeological sites as well as agricultural fields, srchitectural projects and others.
