Fees include participation in the excavation, accommodations, meals, field trips and lectures. Minimum participation is one work week (discounts and academic credits are available).

The Work Day
The work day begins with coffee and cake in the hotel lobby at 4:30am. From there volunteers will walk to the site along the promenade of the Sea of Galilee.
The excavation begins at 5:00am and concludes at 1:00pm (please see schedule below). Various tasks are carried out during the work day, such as:
  • Excavating - with small or large tools depending on the work which is being carried out.
  • Filling and emptying wheelbarrows according to need.
  • Sifting of soil which is removed from the excavation squares , in order to locate coins and other small finds.
  • Cleaning for a better resolution of the architecture and before photography.
  • Pottery Washing
If you have a physical condition, which prohibits you from participating in a specific task, the area supervisor should be notified accordingly.

During the day, you will be provided with breakfast and a fruit break. Volunteers will be expected to help with the set up and clean up for breakfast.
At the end of the work day all tools, pottery and finds must be stored in the storage container, after which, volunteers will return to the hotel for lunch, (all the meals are kosher, vegetarian options are available).

After lunch, volunteers will have free time in accordance with the afternoon activities - lectures, pottery washing and field trips to nearby sites (a detailed schedule will be provided prior to the beginning of the season).

Dinner will be served at the Aviv Hotel at 8:00pm. An early bedtime and a good night's sleep are recommended so that you are prepared for the work in the field.
